Trending: Tented Weddings

Supported by Wedding Planner Magazine, if steering towards an outdoor wedding, keep in mind that tented weddings are rapidly becoming the latest trend for both the ceremony and receptions.

Creativity permitting, a tented wedding holds unlimited options in forming to your image. As opposed to a venue, an outdoors tented event can be structured to your wishes. Weather permitting, a tent offers a space and atmosphere customized to your guest party. As Wedding Planner Magazine states, a tented wedding allows for more unique areas to be created, such as speciality draping, dance floors, lounge space, customized bars, etc.

Also, with vintage decor trending this year, outdoor tents allow this look to come to life. Tented weddings allow for the use of lantern lighting, lofty draping, burlap-like fabrics and unique accessories.

Stone House Bakery

We had the pleasure of discovering Stone House Bakery at our most recent October wedding. Catering the event with cupcakes galore, Stone House was so delicious we decided they must be recommended to future brides in the area.

Owned by Lois Trout, local farmer and baker, Stone House Bakery uses only farm fresh ingredients. Specializing in cakes, pies, cookies, sweet breads, cupcakes, jams, jellies, rolls, bars, and brownies, their recipes have been passed down through Lois' family for generations. Supporting other local farmers, Stone House Bakery also uses produce from TLV Tree Farm in Glenleg MD, and South Mountain Creamery in Middletown, MD.

Stone House delivers, as well as takes custom orders. We highly recommend considering their cakes and cupcakes for any upcoming events. They are just that good! Their cupcakes are baked slightly larger than the standard size, and the icing cannot be beat. Additionally, they offer holiday packages that can be frozen and baked at home. Definitely something to keep in mind for this season!

Pumpkin for Breakfast!

Searching for more ways to slip in pumpkin to your autumn diet before the season ends? We have found (and tried) another favorite. As the colder weather sets in, wake up to a warm and delicious breakfast. These pumpkin pancakes were easy to make, healthy, and kid-approved.

My personal recommendation: add a little powdered sugar, pecans, and real maple syrup!

www.allrecipes.com

Original recipe makes 12 pancakes
1 1/2 cups milk
1 egg
1 cup pumpkin puree
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 teaspoon ground allspice
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt

  1. In a bowl, mix together the milk, pumpkin, egg, oil and vinegar. Combine the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, allspice, cinnamon, ginger and salt in a separate bowl. Stir into the pumpkin mixture just enough to combine.
  2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.
