Our ideal intern is someone who is not necessarily interested in the field but
definitely eager to help in general.
This person must understand that there is more to the business than
simply orchestrating events.
Paperwork, public relations, networking, advertising, and research (to
name a few) are all aspects of running a business. An organized, ambitious person who is willing to help out at
events where needed would make a great fit for the jpb designs team!

Branding your Bands
Engraving your wedding band can add an eternal sentimental value to what often becomes the most materialistic aspect of a wedding. Adding an engraving to the wedding bands, whether it be a quote, date, or words of meaning, creates a constant reminder of the love and value behind the crazy and stressful event planning.
Be sure to plan ahead with a jeweler if you in fact wish to enscribe your bands, for timing purposes. As to what to choose, there are many ideas that may resonate with you and your future spouse.

You can enscribe your wedding vows, a small meaningful quote, or even a private joke. Remember that the engraving serves as a personal reminder, and is only seen by you. Another unique and fun idea is to engrave each other's bands and not reveal the quote until the wedding day.

Thinking Fall
As we watch the early stages of Autumn approach, we hope those with approaching events are coordinating with the season! Seasonal events can allow for unique themes, color schemes, and even recipes that can only be used once a year. Any fall event can be accented with one of the many pumpkin recipes used during the Autumn season.
For example, we have a great recipe that can be served as an appetizer at any type of venue. These pumpkin gougeres would be a great addition to any menu at a wedding, rehearsal dinner, or even small dinner party.

Savory Pumpkin & Sage Gougères
1/2 cup water
3 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup flour
2 eggs
1/4 cup canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix)
1 1/2 tsp chopped fresh sage
1/2 tsp (approximately) kosher salt
3 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup flour
2 eggs
1/4 cup canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix)
1 1/2 tsp chopped fresh sage
1/2 tsp (approximately) kosher salt
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
In a heavy-bottomed medium saucepan set over medium heat, combine water, butter (cut into small pieces), and salt. Stir constantly and be certain the mixture does not come to a boil. Once the butter melts, stir in the flour. Stir quickly until the mixture binds together. Continue to stir for another minute, while the pot sits on the heat.
Transfer the mixture to a bowl and let the mixture cool slightly, about 10 minutes. Stir in 2 eggs, one at a time. Be certain that the first egg is fully combined into the mixture before adding the second egg. Add the canned pumpkin and minced sage. Stir to combine.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. You can either spoon or pipe the dough onto the parchment paper. If you decide to pipe it, use a 1/2-inch plain tip or just use a coupler. Each gougère should be 1 to 2 inches in diameter, and they should be spaced 1 inch apart. Sprinkle a few grains of kosher salt on the top of each gougère.
Bake, without opening the door, for 10 minutes and then lower the temperature to 375 degrees F for another 15 minutes, or until the gougère are golden brown and crisp on the outside. Pierce each gougère with a small, sharp knife to release the steam, which will stop them from becoming soft. Serve immediately. If the gougère lose their crispness while sitting, reheat them in a 375 degree F oven for 3 minutes.
Makes 15-18 large or 35-40 small gougères.

An Elegant Sparkle: Kristin & WIll
With mason jars and chalkboards, parasols and candles, this Evergreen Museum wedding made for the ultimate elegant evening.
Kristin, the bride, her mother, and I met for the first time just weeks prior to Kristin's wedding. At that point she told me all about her two year old daughter she shares with the groom and her vision for the wedding day. Ultimately, she wanted a ceremony that was about the family - all three of them - and not just about the bride and groom, while for the reception she wanted it to sparkle and glow under the carriage house roof as it was to be filled with candles.
Once the wedding day approached, Kristin and Will lucked out in terms of weather. It was a beautiful day! For an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour, they couldn't have asked for anything better.
Here are some of the pictures that help tell the story of Kristin & Will's wedding day:
Each bridesmaid chose her own dress - many of them chose to go for a little extra bling to their silver cocktail dresses, in order to wear again on New Years.
Kristin & Will did a first look session prior to their ceremony to get a lot of the pictures completed and out of the way. I love the architectural detail Elisha of Love Life Images chose for this shot.
Amy at Crimson and Clover created all the flowers, including the bride's beautiful bouquet.
As guests entered, they grabbed a program from one of my assistants and then the usher led them down to the lower gardens for the ceremony seating.
I love how sweet this image is of the daughter holding on to her mommy and daddy during the ceremony, which is just what the bride and groom wanted.
Kristen and Will wanted the patio set up for cocktail hour with the band elevated on the "stage". Little did Kristen know -- Will had a surprise coming!
Within minutes of Kristen and Will joining the cocktail hour after pictures, he had everyone in tears.
Will took to the stage with the band and sang Kristen a song. It was one of the sweetest gestures I have seen - and, a complete crowd pleaser!
Guests entered into the carriage house for their dinner/dancing portion of the reception. As you can see, each location at the Evergreen Museum is just as lovely as the next. The grounds are just beautiful!
Kristen found these darling little plates, which she wanted at her sweetheart table.
Each place setting contained a thank you from the bride and groom in the same design as the wedding programs. I love the sweetness and thoughtfulness behind this thank you.
We helped decorate this brick wall with this awesome board and some family images.
Just as their wedding programs and thank you cards, these cards for a guest book held the same design.
Guests had fun with Love Life's photobooth that we placed back in the stalls.
Again - this is such a cool venue!
One of my favorite desserts in the business is Chef's Expressions cheesecake pops. You should have seen my smile when they started walking these around at the end of the night! Yum!
For favors, Kristen and Will placed these personalized towels in a galvanized tub towards the exit.
Not only are they just really cool, but I loved the presentation with the towels wrapped up like this!
Thank you, Kristen and Will for having jpb designs as a part of your day!
We truly enjoyed helping you set up and helping to make your day run smoothly.
Although, we could not have done it without the help of some key vendors....
