Color Cake

My favorite part of a wedding, or any event/party/get together, is the cake. Even bad cake is good; but, cake is even better when it's aesthetically pleasing and almost too pretty to eat. Cutting into a cake and realizing that the slice is full of different colors will give your guests a great surprise.

Martha Stewart has a recipe for a rainbow cake:

It's pretty simple, albeit a little time consuming. You separate the cake batter into different bowls, color the batter, and bake in separate pans. Then layer and ice!

You could also mix the different batters and then pour them all into one pan, like below, to create more of a swirl of the colors:

For kids' birthday parties, cakes in a jar are fun:

Or cover the cake in fondant and gives kids edible markers and have them decorate the cake:

And of course, you can change the colors to your liking. The green is great for a St. Patty's day party and the pink is great for Valentine's day, or a cherry blossom themed wedding (shameless self plug!).

So here are some ideas for your next party or your upcoming wedding. What are some cool cake ideas you have?
